Kh'Leang Temple
Kh'Leang Temple is a remarkable Buddhist temple of the Theravada school in Vietnam . It stands in the southern part of the country in Soc Trang . Kh'Leang Temple was built in 1533. In this period, the region was under Khmer influence, until the 17th century when the Vietnamese took it over. The main hall is 20 m wide and 20.8 m long. It was built on an elevated platform. The roof is supported by 12 wide black lacquered pillars in the style of the Corinthian Greece. The hall is dominated by the statue of Gautama Buddha that is 6.8 m high and 2.7 m wide. The Khmer memorial plate proves that the statue was a gift from Lum Sum family. Kh'Leang Temple is decorated with various objects, in accordance with the Khmer tradition..
