The popular tourist venue Keswick lies in England (Cumbria), about 30 km (19mi) from Carlisle. The town has cosy guest houses, a summer repertory theatre, quality outdoor equipment shops and here and there parking problems during the high season... The most distinctive building is the Moot Hall. The Pencil Museum located in an old factory offers interesting audiovisual shows. There are several - also attractive - museums, such as the Bond Museum and the Mining Museum and, of course the Keswick Museum and Art Gallery with original manuscripts of Lakeland writers Robert Southey and William Wordsworth. To the east of the town lies the ancient stone circle of Castlerigg, thought to be older than Stonehenge. Visitors with children often head for the Trotters World or to some of the huge many lakes in the Lake District National Park.
