The first records of Kavarna come from the 5th century B.C. In the 1st century A.D., the city was damaged by and earthquake, which swept a part of the peninsula and some buildings into the sea.
There is a small port for yachts and large sandy beaches in Kavarna. There are also three 18-holes golf courses. The most significant monuments in the resort Kavarna include the Turkish Spa, the Kavarna Maritime Museum, the city museum, the ethnographic museum, the St George Church, the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and old fountains. The city Kavarna has more than 12,000 inhabitants today.
