Since then, the castle went from hands to hands several times and was heavily damaged several times, too. The last of attackers was the French army in 1672–1673. After that, Kasteel de Haar was partially reconstructed. Unfortunately, the last son of the castle’s owner Rudolf van Zuylen van Nijevelt died in 1801 and his cousin J. van Zuylen van Nijevelt inherited it. About the castle
The castle was given its nowadays appearance in the period of 1892–1912. Kasteel de Haar - as we can know it today - was built upon the remains of the original castle. The castle includes a large park to which many old trees were moved from all over the Utrecht Province during its construction (even 40-years-old trees were brought) . Kasteel de Haar also offers beautiful, richly decorated interiors and many valuable antiquities. Practical information
Kasteel de Haar is open from the end of May to the mid November, except for September, when the family of Van Zuylen van Nijevelt stays there. From May 28th to September 2nd, it is open daily from 1 pm to 4 pm. From October 7th to November 18th, it is open daily except for Mondays, from 1 pm to 4 pm. In November, the castle is open only on Sundays. Photographing in the interiors is prohibited.Tourist information and destination rating
