Kamnitz Gorge
The Kamnitz Gorge is the deep canyon of the river Kamnitz in sandstone rocks. It is located near the village of Hřensko, in the Bohemian Switzerland National Park, in the Czech Republic . The Kamnitz Gorge can be divided to the Ferdinand Gorge, Ve Strži Gorge, Wild Gorge and Silent Gorge. The hiking trail marked yellow leads through the Wild and Silent Gorges. In places, where the gorge is impassable, the tourists continue their journey on ferry-boats. The Silent Gorge was opened in the 19th century. The trail in the gorge leads through tunnels carved in the sandstone rocks and over walkways. A weir was built on the river, enabling the visitors to travel through the impassable parts of the gorge on boats. The Wild Gorge is closely connected to the Silent Gorge.
