About Kalmar
A large part of the city burnt down in the 40s of the 17th century but the historical center of the city survived. There are many tiny cobbled lanes with mostly yellow and blue wooden houses. In the center of Kalmar , there is a dome built at the end of the 17th century. You can visit the interesting museum Lansmuseum. The exhibits of the museum are placed on a renovated royal ship Kronan that was built in the 17th century. The most significant monument of the city Kalmar is the castle Slott Kalmar . Its oldest part was built in the 12th century. The way from the city center to the castle runs through the pleasant Stadspark full of old trees.
