K2, also called Cchokori, is the second highest mountain in the world. It is situated in the north of Pakistan , in the Karakorum mountains, on the border with China. The mountain is 8611m high. There are several films about the expeditions to the top of the mountain. To climb the K2 mountain is extremely challenging, even if you decide for the easiest route. It is widely believed that K2 is the most difficult eight-thousand-meter-high-mountain in the world. Dozens of climbers have lost their lives when trying to get to the summit. The first people to reach K2 were Italians, Lino Lacedelli and Achille Compagnoni on 31st July 1954.
