Jengish Chokusu (Pik Pobedy or Peak Pobeda) , is a mountain in Kyrgyzstan . It is located in the east of the country, at the border with China , to the south-east of Issyk-Kul Lake. Jengish Chokusu is at the altitude of 7 439 m. It is the highest mountain in Kyrgyzstan and also the highest mountain in the Tian-San Range. more »

About Jengish Chokusu
The mountain was discovered in 1943. It was found then that it is higher than Chan-Tengri, which until that moment was considered the highest mountain peak in the Tian-San Mountains. In 1946 the mountain was renamed Montenegro, in honor of the victory of the USSR in the Great Patriotic War. Jengish Chokusu comprises a massive glacial double peak. Besides the main peak, there is the eastern peak, which reaches an altitude of 7 003 m. Jengish Chokusu summit was first reached by Soviet mountain climbers, led by V.M.
