Issyk-kul is a drainless lake in Kyrgyzstan . It is located in the east of the country at an altitude of 1,608 m. It is the biggest natural attraction in Kyrgyzstan as well as one of the largest mountain lakes in the world. The average depth in the lake is 278m, the maximum depth is 668m. The name Issyk-kul means "warm lake", which originates from the fact that in winter the lake does not freeze. The surrounding are offers beautiful nature sceneries. It is an ideal locality for mountain hiking, and for people who like water sports too since the lake offers perfect conditions for surfing or diving.
