Magnificent spectacle
The waterfall Gullfoss consists of two cascades: the upper one is 11 meters high and the lower one has 20 meters. The water falls into a 70-meters deep and nearly 2,500 meters long ravine. Visitors who want to see the Gullfoss can reach the waterfall by car. Just drive to the car-park located just a few steps from the fall. If you are prepared to get soaking wet, you can go to the rocky spur surrounded by the waterfall Gullfoss. When the weather is sunny, the Gullfoss offers a magnificent view with a colorful rainbow but it loses nothing of its charm in winter with a snow cap, either. Gullfoss is located in a geothermal region, where you can visit the most popular geyser in Iceland , the Strokkur Geyser. It is advisable to take a trip following the Golden Circle, which will guide you to the most beautiful sites in Iceland .Tourist information and destination rating
