Giác Lâm Pagoda is a Buddhist temple in Vietnam . It is situated in the south, in Ho Chi Minh City , better known as Saigon. Giác Lâm Pagoda was built in 1744. It is also known as Cẩm Đệm and Sơn Can. The pagoda was built by Lý Thụy Long during the reign of Nguyễn Phúc Khoát Dynasty. Giác Lâm Pagoda stands on a spacious land, surrounded by urban areas. The garden is dominated by a large statue of Buddha and by the Bodhi trees. The main building of the temple has a rectangular shape. It is 65 m long and 22 m wide. It consists of the main ceremonial hall, the pulpit and the canteen. In all of these rooms, there are carved pillars. The main entrance is decorated with carved dragons. Giác Lâm Pagoda has 112 historical statues made of wood and decorated with gold. All of these statues, tables and relics are hand-made. The oldest statue of Buddha comes from the 18th century. The temple has also its tower which is 32m high, and it is an important feature of Ho Chi Minh City ..
