Frying Pan Lake is situated in Waimangu Volcanic Valley , which is a hydrothermal system developed by a volcanic eruption of Mount Tarawera, that ook place on 10 July 1886. Frying Pan Lake covers an area of 3.8 hectares. Its average depth is 6 m and a maximum depth reaches 20m. The total volume of water is about 200,000 m3. The temperature of the water ranges between 45-55 ° C. Due the high temperature of the lake’s water a special boat called Maji Moto had to be used for sailing on the Frying Pan Lake
