Fruska Gora lies in the north of Serbia
, south of Novi Sad
, on the border of the historic areas Syrmia and Vojvodina. Fruska Gora is a national park covering an area of 25,000 km2
. The river Danube and the surrounding areas also belong to the park. The park is a home to many species of rare and protected animals and plants. Thanks to the rich fossil remains, Fruska Gora is also known as the Mirror of the Geological Past.
Mountain Range of Monasteries
In the national park, there are sixteen monasteries and many historic buildings famous for their architecture, treasures and archaeological sites. Visitors of Fruska Gora will find here tens of kilometres of marked hiking trails and cycling paths.
