About Fiordland National Park
Fiordland National Park is a refuge of many species of wild animals and sea mammals, such as penguins, dolphins, fur-seals and seals. We can also find here five big lakes and several waterfalls. You can get there on the lake of the same name. Lake Mirror is famous for the mirror reflection of the mountains towering above it. Lake Monowai is a centre of recreational sports. Lake Hauroko is the deepest lake in New Zealand , while Green Lake was named after its emerald green water. A unique water power plant stands on Lake Manapouri. Fiordland National Park can take pride in the longest fiord - Doubtful Sound which is 40 km long, it stretches from the foothills of the Southern Alps to the Tasman Sea. It is connected with Manapouri by a 10 km long tunnel leading under the mountains.
