Fier is a city in southwest of Albania, in Fier district, Fier region. History of the city is connected with oil and natural gas. Fier was founded by Vrioni family in 18th century. Even today the city is an important industrial center on junction of Gjanica and Seman rivers. Although Fier is an important industrial place of Albania, you can spend a pieceful holiday here. The city is important due to its location, as significant historical places, such as Byllis and Apollonia (two ancient towns founded by the Greeks) are located close to Fier. The most important sights of the city are Agonothetes, Church of Virgin Marry, Xhamia Mosque, house with mosaic, Apolonia Museum and small Artemis Cathedral. Fier offers good quality hotels. Currently more than 82 thousand inhabitants live in the city.
