Fermanagh is is the only one of six counties that form Northern Ireland and do not adjoin Lough Neagh. The region is famous for beautiful lakes, which occupy a large part of the area of the county. The biggest attraction is, or rather are, two interconnected lakes - Lough Erne. The surrounding hills are covered with forest and in the winter the lake looks like an inland sea. Some of numerous islands offer interesting relics of the early Christian period or previous pagan culture. Conditions for water sports are gigantic, both lakes, as well as other lakes in this area are full of fish, but hikers and bikers may enjoy the Ulster Way, for example. In the neighborhood of the town of Enniskillen you can come across medieval castles. Elegant Castle Coole in Enniskillen is worth the attention too.
