In summer, there are e.g. rare black swans, great-beaked terns, Australian gannets, giant cormorants or Canadian Geese. The Farewell Spit is a protected area so the access in the locality is permitted only with organized guided tours. To the west of the spit, there is the Puponga Farm Park. There are numerous hiking trails which offer beautiful views of the Farewell Spit landscape..
