About Eze
The first mention of a settlement at this site comes from the 2nd century BC. Eze is now located at the top of Mount Bastille, at the height of 427 m above sea level. It is a beautiful, romantic village with many monuments and typical narrow stone lanes. The most important monuments in Eze are Chapelle de la Sainte Croix from the 13th century, and the church of Notre Dame de l'Assomption. Other interesting places are old gates La Poterne, Porte des Maures and Demeure des Riquier. Then there is a very popular botanical garden (Jardin Botanique d'Eze) , which is known for its unique collection of cacti and succulents.
