Monuments
Exeter is dominated by the St. Peter´s Cathedral founded in the 11th century. It has two remarkable Norman towers. Another significant monument in the city, the Cathedral Close, was built in several different architectonical styles. One of the most beautiful buildings in the city is the Mol´s Coffee House with an impressive gable. Near the St. Petrock´s Church, you can visit the Parliament Street, which is only 63 cm wide at its end. The St. Mary Steps Church is also worth seeing. If you are looking for entertainment and recreation, visit the quarter along the Exe River and the old port called Quayside. There are many restaurants, cafes and shops. The entrance to the accessible underground passageways is at the northern end of High Street. Not far from that, you can visit the Rougemont Castle- the remains of a castle with forts made of red stone. Just behind the corner, in the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, you can see collections of stuffed animals and art pieces from south-western England. There is also a university in Exeter, with a permanent theater group.Tourist information and destination rating
