Erie Lake the fourth largest lake of the five Great Lakes in North America, USA
. It is bounded on the north by the Canadian province of Ontario, on the south by the U.S. states of Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York, and on the west by the state of Michigan. Erie Lake is the shallowest of the five Great Lakes so it the warmest one, too. By the surface size, it is the tenth largest lake in the world. The surface area of Erie Lake is 25,745 km², at its deepest point it is 64 metres deep. It takes its name from the Erie tribe, the native Americans who used to live on the coast of the lake. The lake is fed from the Detroit River and the Niagara River. The peninsula in Erie Lake is protected - there is the Point Pelee National Park.
