The region is widely popular among cyclists as there are numerous cycling trails and the car drivers are very decent. The region is rich in castles and chateaus, of which the most significant are e.g. Château de Beynac, Biron, Bourdeilles, Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, Commarque, Milandes, Monbazillac, Pecany and Puymartin. The valley includes a famous 15 thousand years old cave of Lascaux with well-preserved prehistoric wall paintings. This cave was discovered on the 12th September 1940 by four young men. The best known paintings are the painted buffalo and the horse. It is also worth mentioning the unique Roman ruins.
