The Denver Art Museum was officially established in 1918 by the Denver Artists Club, which was founded in 1893. Today, the museum includes two buildings. The first one, the so-called North Building, was built in 1971. The construction of the second one, the main building, was finished in October 2006. Denver Art Museum is divided into nine parts, which present architecture, design, sculpture, photography, graphics and modern art. You can admire art of the Native Americans as well as art from Oceania, Asia and Africa from the pre-Columbian Era and Spanish colonial art. The exhibition features more than 68,000 art pieces from all over the world. The most valuable is the collection of Native American art.
Denver Art Museum is opened daily except for Monday. The Hamilton Building (main building) is opened on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 am to 5 pm, on Thursday and weekends from 9 am to 7 pm. On Friday, it closes at 10 pm. The North Building is opened from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm. The entrance fee for adults is 13 USD and 5 USD for children up to 6 years of age. The entrance is free of charge every first Saturday of the month.
