The Demänovská Ice Cave an ice cave in Slovakia . It is situated in the Demänovská Valley , in the Low Tatras , 9 km to the south from Liptovský Mikuláš . The Demänovská Ice Cave occupies large corridors and domes in three levels. Icy stalagmites and stalagnates are being formed and maintained due to the vertical shape of the entrance part of the cave that does not allow the summer warm air get in. The Demänovská Ice Cave is 1665 m long but only 650 m are available for visitor tours. The entrance in the cave is located above the Kamenná chata (740 m above the sea level) . You will get in through a very narrow crevice corridor to the lowest level, 40 m below the area which is permanently covered with ice.The tour takes approximately 45 minutes. The guide will take you to large corridors once formed by the river flow, into the cave and into the part of the cave with the breathtaking icy decorations. The average temperature in the cave varies from 0.4° to 3°C. Admission: adults €7, children €3.50..
