The Coromandel Forest Park is a forest park on the North Island, which belongs to
New Zealand . It can be found southeast of
Coromandel and about 105 km northeast of the city of
Hamilton . The Coromandel Forest Park is a forest park stretching for about 100 km along the Kauaeranga River. In the 19th century, the area of the park was an important place of kauri pines lumbering. Today, we can still see the remains of dams, bridges and skids, on which the timber was triggered into the river. The best point to access Coromandel Forest Park is Kauaeranga, which offers an extensive network of trails, paths and rests ideal for a picnic. The Coromandel Forest Park operates a tourist centre - the Kauaeranga Visitor Center, about 13 km from the town of
Thames . The centre provides detailed information about the hiking trails in the park and accommodation in various facilities of the park. The Coromandel Forest Park is interwoven with rivers where fishermen can fish for trouts, and where the more observing visitors, during their walks through the beautiful nature, can find even precious stones.
