Tourist information and destination rating

Category: Region, Local time: 18:40:24

Cornwall, the westernmost region of England, boasts the longest stretch of continuous coastline in Britain. It is really worth visiting, and for many reasons. You can discover tiny Cornish fishing villages such as Tintagel, smuggler’s coves, beaches and bays, unrivalled elsewhere in Britain for their beauty and variety, dramatic cliffs and coastline, or beautiful moorland and countryside. Beach towns such as Newquay offer great conditions for surfing. There is Truro, the only town in Cornwall where the cathedral is still the tallest building in the town, and there large towns such as Penzance which are worth the attention too. From the sub-tropical Morrab Gardens to the bustling fishing port of Newlyn you can find something interesting. It is also here that you can take a day trip to the Isles of Scilly or walk to the mysterious St Michael's Mount. The moorland countryside of West Cornwall and Bodmin Moor offer megalithic monuments such as standing stones, barrows and stone circles.
