Cockermouth, a lovely little market town in the UK, located in England (Cumbria), app. 150 km (94mi) from Carlisle, is extremely attractive for tourists due to fine Georgian buildings and restored workers' cottages. You town is the birthplace of William Wordsworth, famous poet, and the Wordsworth House and Garden has excellent displays on his life and work. The local parish church contains a Wordsworth memorial window. The town also has small museums of printing, toys and mineral collection, and an art gallery. The Cockermouth castle is partly ruined and not open to the public but the Jennings Brewery invites visitors for tours and tastings. With children you can set out for a trip to the Lake District National Park or to the Trotters World.
