Co Loa Citadel
Co Loa Citadel is a fortress in Vietnam . It is situated in the northern part of the country, in the region of Dong Bang Song Hong, about 20 km north from Hanoi . Co Loa Citadel was founded during the Hồng Bàng Dynasty in about 257 BC. The fortress is spiral-shaped, and it is composed of the outer walls and the citadel. The outer walls are 8 km long, bordered with watch towers in regular distances. The walls can be as much as 12 m high, and they have a 25 m wide foundation. The earthworks made by archaeologists revealed some fragments of the Dong Son culture pottery and a large number of bronze objects. In Co Loa Citadel, there are also two temples.
