Chatyr Kul, also known as Chartykol, is a drainless mountain lake in Kyrgyzstan

About Chatyr Kul
Chatyr Kul sized 175 km2 is one of the largest lakes in the country. Its maximum length is 23 km, width 10 km and average depth is 4 m. The only constant tributary is the river Ak Say. Chatyr Kul is a protected area and it is an important habitat of water birds. It is a refuge for over 21,000 endangered species of wild geese and ducks. The absence of fish in the lake and the unique climatic conditions also allow sustainability of the biological diversity of rare plankton and amphibians.
