Chateau Topoľčianky comes from the 15th – 16th century. The building consists of four wings. One is built in the classicist style, all others in the renaissance style. Today, a museum of antiquities and antique furniture resides in the classicist wing. There are paintings, clocks, carpets, porcelain, weapons and so on. All of these objects belonged to the owners, the Habsburgs, who left the chateau in 1918. Chateau Topoľčianky also has a unique library with rare books from the 17th century. Among the most precious ones is the first book of Slovak grammar, ‘Grammatica Slavica’ from Anton Bernolák, printed in Bratislava in the year of 1790. Another gems include a Czech version of ‘Bible of Kralice’ issued in 1613 in Prague and the first Bible written in Hungarian. Other Facts
In Chateau Topoľčianky, it is possible to pass through rooms designed in various styles as renaissance, rococo, baroque, classicism and so on. Between the years 1923 and 1951, the chateau was a presidential summer residence in the period of Czechoslovakia. A unique telephone record from 1948 was preserved in the presidential office.Practical Info
Chateau Topoľčianky is open all year long. May to August from Tuesday to Friday, 9 – 15 h, and 12 – 16 at weekends. September to April from Tuesday to Friday, 9 – 15 h, and 12 – 16 at weekends.
