Chateau Hrubá Skála is a romantic chateau about 7 km south-east of Turnov in the Czech Paradise . The chateau is built on two 60 meters-high sandstone rocks. After the Thirty Years' War, the Chateau Hrubá Skála was to be torn down but, fortunately, that did not happen and only the chateau's moat was filled up. Later, it was once again rebuilt, this time in the Neo-Gothic Style. .

Much more than a tourist attraction

Chateau Hrubá Skála is not only a very popular touristic destination, but also a sought-after site among the film-makers. The fairy tale "Princ Bajaja" is one of those that were filmed there. All the courtyards, the prism-shaped tower and the St Joseph Church are accessible to public. There is a hotel in the chateau, as well as a restaurant. In the vicinity of the chateau, there are the so-called "Myší díra" (Mouse hole) and the charming viewing place right from the rock above the chateau, where you can see the whole Chateau Hrubá Skála, the Hrubá Skála rock city, Kozákov , Trosky and many other magnificent sites of the Czech Paradise.
