Basic Facts
The current castle territory is created by a baroque palace from the 18th century surrounded by bulwarks and forts. The castle can be accessed through a draw-bridge that leads to the gate with crenels and peepholes. There are four towers in Castle Siklós connected by a gazebo. The castle palace is a three-floor building. The southern wing includes a castle museum, jail and cellar lapidary. You can see an exposition on the manufacture of gloves, fans and umbrellas in the museum. The first floor in the palace serves as a modern art gallery and an interesting Zsigmond Hall can be seen there, too. It has a Lierne rib vaulting and a renaissance fireplace. In the year of 1401, Sigismund, Holy Roman Emperor, was imprisoned in this hall. The second floor is a place of a ceramics exhibition by István Gádor. The walls in the castle jail are several meters thick and there are five rows of bars in the windows.
