In a way, the "End of Europe" looks like an unconquerrable, steep fortress. .

The Old Lighthouse

There is a unique object at the Cape of St. Lawrence, a 150-year-old lighthouse. It was installed on a high, rounded cliff and warns ships up to 100 kilometer distance. The capacity of the electric luminous source reaches up to 3,000 watts. In case of emergency there is still available the old petroleum light system. Due to the lighthouse Cape of St. Lawrence is an important landmark for ships sailing from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean Sea. The lighthouse offers a fantastic view of the place where the land ends and the endless sea begins. The Cape of St. Lawrence can also be seen from the sea level. There are regular cruises from the town of Sagres during the main season.
