Caernarfon, UK, is a busy town with a famous castle in Wales (Gwynedd), approx. 180 km (113mi) from Chester. The Caernarforn Castle, a distinctive landmark overlooking the town and its harbour, contains several interesting displays, e.g. the Royal Welch Fusiliers Museum and exhibitions which trace the history of the Princes of Wales. On the hill above the town are the ruins of Segontium, a Roman fort (AD 78). Among the tourist attractions in the region e.g. the Beaumaris Castle and the Museum of Childhood in Beaumaris are worth the attention. If you like discovering UNESCO Sites , Castles and Town Walls of King Edward in Gwynedd should be included in your travel plans. For tourists who prefer outdoor activities Caernarfon is an ideal base as it is the gateway to the the Snowdonia National Park.
