Bristol is a British city associated with history, arts, aeronautics and technologies, and of course with sailing and navigation because it was in 1947 that John Cabot sailed from Bristol on the voyage to North America. The city is located in the south part of England (Bristol), 40 km (25mi) far from the city Caerdydd. It is a university city, too. This historical city is proud of a very rich history - and there are good reasons for that, which you can see in e.g. the Blaise Castle House Museum or in the magnificent 14th century church, once claimed by the Queen Elizabeth I to be the "fairest in England." The most interesting part of the city lies around Broad Street, King Street and Corn Street. Allow time to visit the market (Corn Exchange) and walk the Christmas Steps - a steep lane lined with specialist shops. They are gorgeous! Bristol and surrounding area offer trips which will not exhaust you much so that you can explore and enjoy a lot of other opportunities for entertainment and relaxation. With children, for example, you can visit the Bristol Zoo. It belongs to the region's most visited places as some very rare animal species can be found there. Nowadays, the population of the city is about 420,000.
