Brecon is is a market town in the United Kingdom, located in Wales (Powys), 50 km (31mi) from Cardiff. It is known for its Georgian and Jacobean architecture, ancient Cathedral and mainly its Jazz Festival. Brecon is a great base for trips to Brecon Beacons National Park, which is is a popular destination for people who love active holiday. You can spend wonderful time hiking in its most distinctive parts - Black Mountains and Fforest Fawr, caving in Dan-yr-Ogof Caves, fishing, etc. The town of Brecon, now with a population of about 7 900, offers a variety of sites to discover, e.g. the Norman Cathedral and St Michael's Catholic Church. You can visit the well-known South Wales Borderers Museum or Brecknock Museum & Art Gallery, too. The Jazz Festival is held annually in August.
