Architecture

Bordeaux is important by beautiful architecture, mainly buildings from the 18th century. They are unique so in June 2007 the city was inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The historical center is called Bordeaux "Moon Harbor". This unique urban and architectural complex comes from the period of the Enlightenment. After Paris , Bordeaux is the second city with the biggest number of historically protected buildings in France .

Monuments

The major attractions in Bordeaux are Place de la Bourse, Pont-de-Pierre, St. Pierre St frontage Cross, the remnants of the Roman amphitheater Palais Gallien, and also Basilica of St. Andre, which was built in the 2nd century AD; the basilicas of St. Michel and St. Seurin. There are many museums and galleries. The most important are the Musée des Beaux Arts, Musée d'Aquitaine, The Musée des Arts Decoratifs and the Musée d'Histoire Naturel.

Outdoor people may enjoy a visit to the botanical gardens (Jardin Botanique de Bordeaux) and the Jardin Botanique de la Bastide. Shoppers will definitely like the night life in Bordeaux, especially the main boulevard, Rue Sainte-Catherine, with numerous shops, restaurants, bars, clubs, discos and much more. Bordeaux also offers a number of cinemas, theaters, as well as the National Opera. Football fans probably know that Gironde Bordeaux is one of the best French football clubs. If you are in the town at the time when a match is scheduled, you should not miss such a unique experience.
