The construction of the Bieszczady Forest Railway began 1890, and the railway was put into operation in January 1898. The first operator were the Austrian State Railways. After the Second World War Bieszczady Forest Railway was abandoned. Villages in the vicinity were destroyed and the people displaced. Bieszczady Forest Railway was not restored until the late 1950. The restored, 73 km long railway was operated by the State Forests in Sanok, but its operation was suspended in 1994. Nowadays, the re-revived railway is a popular tourist attraction.Tourist information
