The Besleti Bridge is a unique stone bridge in Georgia
. It is located in the western part of the country, northwest from the city Sokhumi
, in a picturesque gorge. This bridge built in the 12th century stands over the river Basla. The Besleti Bridge consists of a stone arch at the height of 9 m above the river. It is 35 m long and 4.7 m wide, and it is made of square stones. At one end of the bridge, an old inscription in ancient Georgian language can be seen. The Besleti Bridge is also known as the Queen Tamar Bridge. Near the bridge, we can see the remains of medieval battle towers.
