Baranów Sandomierski Castle - History
Baranów Sandomierski Castle was built by the end of the 16th century for the family of Leszczyńsky. The construction was designed by Italian architect Santi Gucci. The palace included four corner towers, decorated vaults, carved stone portals and a nice courtyard with arcades. Until the 19th century the residence was surrounded with robust ramparts. In the modern times it was removed. At the end of the 17th century the Baranów Sandomierski Castle was leased to the Lubomirsky family, who ordered to enlarge the western wing. Until the beginning of the Second World War, the castle was permanently inhabited despite two fire accidents, whose consequences were remedied in a short time. Later the residence was used by a state-owned company operating in sulphur mining, which maintained the Baranów Sandomierski Castle until recently. Attractions
