Bajina Basta is a city in Serbia. It is located in the western part of the country, in the eastern part of the Tara National Park, on the bank of the Drina River. Bajina Basta is a very popular touristic centre. Due to its location, it is a perfect starting point for trips to the Tara Range which offers beautiful landscape and many sports resorts. The surroundings of the city Bajina Basta is of great archaeological value. The oldest findings come from the Neolithic era. Bajina Basta was an important trade centre of the Roman and Byzantine Empire and in the Middle Ages, too. The ruins of the medieval city Solotnik and Rača Monastery nearby Bajina Basta are considered the significant cultural heritage of Serbia. The today´s city of Bajina Basta has a population of approximately 9 500.
