|Babia Gora-Babia Hora||Mountains||1km|
The larger part of the mountain is on the Polish side of the mountain range. Babia hora is elevated at 1725m above sea. The summit is composed of resistant sandstone and the Carpathian flysch ( a composition of sediment layers comprising sandstone and clay) . This underlay forms numerous wetlands and peatbogs down at the foot of the mountain. There are lots of springs in this area. On the Polish side you will come across small mountain lakes. The upper part of the Babia hora summit is distinctive with rock cliffs and overhangs.
In the 1990s a memorial tablet was installed on the top of Babia hora in order to commemorate the visit of Pope John Paul II and his ascend to the top of the mountain. Babia hora is a part of the Babia Góra National Park , the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1976. The marked trail to climb to the top of Babia hora begins in Oravská Polhora .
