The resort is located at an altitude 1100 m - 2280 m above sea. The area is one of the oldest ski centers in France . The first lifts in this region were put into operation in the 1930s..

Summer in Avoriaz

Avoriaz is not only a ski resort but it an ideal destination for summer holidays as well. The center is recommendable for hiking and cycling, and tere is a golf course, too. It is interesting that cars are not allowed in Avoriaz. Transport throughout the village is provided by horse-pulled sleigh.
