Austin is situated in the central part of Texas, about 130 km northeast of the city San Antonio , in the United States of America . It belongs to one of the cities with the highest concentration of bars, nightclubs and clubs playing live music of all genres. Austin is the cultural center of the state.

Events, festivals and entertainment

There are several important theaters and various indoor and outdoor exhibitions. The most sought-after tourist attraction is 6th Street Austin , the most lively street and the center of entertainment in the city. The dam and recreational area Lady Bird Lake is also very popular. Austin hosts several of the most important festivals in the country, such as the Austin Film Festival or the popular music festival Austin City Limits.

The second best place for living

Austin is the 5th safest city in Texas. It was repeatedly chosen as the 2nd best place for living in the USA and was selected the "Greenest City in America".

About the city and its climate

The Colorado River flows through the city and supplies three artificial lakes– Lady Bird Lake , Lake Austin and Lake Walter E. Long. Austin lies in the zone of humid subtropical climate characterized by hot summers and mild winters. In summer, the temperatures range around 32°C and around 8°C in winter.

Transport

The Austin Bergstrom International Airport is situated about 10 km north-east of the city center. The transport from the airport to the city Austin is provided by public city transport and taxis. There are car rentals available, too. There is a quality network of cycle-trails in Austin, especially along the main streets and in the vicinity of tourist attractions.

Yellow Bike Project- cycling in the city

The Yellow Bike Project is a non-profit organization that supports engine-free alternatives of public transport in the city and runs a bike rental and service. This very popular service in Austin was established more than 10 years ago. Renting a bike at the Yellow Bike Project cost very little money. The service centers, where you can repair the bike by yourself, are spread all around Austin. All tools and stands for repairs are available for free. The service centers include small shops with basic spare bike parts.
