The exhibits were collected by Arkady Fiedler (author of 32 books of travels) and his two sons, Mark and Arkady Radosław, during their expeditions to North and South Americas, Africa and Asia. The Arkady Fiedler Travel Museum comprises several parts.
The first part is the interior exposition, installed in the writer´s house. It presents exotic sculptures and ritual masks, tomtoms and other musical instruments, a collection of longbows, spears and hunting arms, torches - and even human skulls. Many of the exhibits represent the fauna of the distant continents. The collections include examples of the most beautiful tropical butterflies, huge spiders and tarantulas, scorpions, crocodiles and alligators. You will definitely be impressed by the 600 litre aquarium with piranhas.
The open-air exposition presents a unique collection of curiosities and exotic gardens. Visitors can admire a 6.5 metre tall sculpture from the Easter Island, an Aztec calendar, an Indian totem pole, Olmec´s head, a statue of Buddha, Sitting Bull monument, and many others.
The museum includes a model of pyramid, 6.36 high and 10 metre long. It is exactly 23 times smaller than Cheops pyramid. It is worth mentioning the expositions named The Secret Indian World or the Santa Maria, a true replica of the ship used by Christopher Columbus (actual size) . At present, a duplicate of the "Hurricane", the gun plane that played a very important role in the Battle of Britain, is being created. The Arkady Fiedler Travel Museum organizes various temporary exhibitions as well.
