Ahsan Manzil is a magnificent palace, and the official seat of the Dhaka Nawab Family. It lies on the Buriganga River, in the centre of Dhaka
, in Bangladesh
. Ahsan Manzil was originally a French trading centre. Nawab Khwaja Ahsanullah bought the land in 1830, and between the years 1859-1872 he built here a residential palace. Ahsan Manzil was almost destroyed in 1888. The building was re-done during the reconstruction, and a dome was added to it, opposite the front staircase. The open staircases of Ahsan Manzil lead to the river bank. The spacious terraces on both floors are tiled with marble. Today, Ahsan Manzil is a home to the National Museum.
