The originally desolate village has gradually spread along the coast due to the many visiting tourists. Today, it is considered a part of one vast northern resort. Agia Marina's main advantage is its vicinity to Chania. The resort is not yet as much affected by mass tourism as the other Cretan resorts and it is a relatively calm place. If you walk to Chania, you can make various trips to the western part of Crete.
